Top 4 Things to Consider When Hiring a Garage Door Replacement Specialist Or Company

Whenever selecting a professional for hire there are a few things that you should always do before actually hiring that person. You should do some due diligence to determine whether or not the person actually is a professional to begin with. Verify some credentials, see if they have a portfolio and get some references. I mean just because someone puts an ad up on Craigslist and makes a claim about competency this should not be taken solely at face value.
No matter how nice the person may seem or appear or sound or whatever the case might be, its important that you find out more about the candidate that you want to do business with. There are a lot of potential candidates to choose from, but as always there are a few frauds that prey on the ignorant just to make a quick buck and in turn ruin it for the rest of us. Since this is true, this article will attempt to give you some helpful advice as to what you should look for and do before hiring anyone to do any work for you. Although this article is geared toward the garage door repair industry I'm certain that the rules are equally applicable to many other hiring situations.
The top four things to consider before doing any type of business with anyone you have never worked with before is to first verify their legitimacy or claims. How long as the company been in business? Do they make any promises or claims in their advertisement that can be corroborated? Also, how multifaceted are they? Can they handle the entire job themselves or are they limited in their abilities? Do they have any client testimonials that you can verify? Can you find out about them online by doing a Google search or some other search related either to their company name, their personal name or through generic search terms related tot their industry?
1. Length of Time they've been in business. - If a company has been in business for more than 5 years then they are probably a stable business and you should take comfort in knowing that most businesses fail within the first 5 years of their start up in the first place. A company that has been around for 10 or more years should give you some peace of mind as you know they are true professionals. A company can't stay in business too long if they don't have the clientele to back them up.
2. Range of Services Offered - Does the company or individual handle every aspect of your project or can they only handle one part of the problem? If you need to hire more than one person for a job that defeats efficiency and you are probably going to spend more money in the short and long term if you have to piecemeal your project. Plus you are going to be confused as to who you need to talk to should a part of the project prove problematic or faulty. Who guarantees what? Get one person or company to take accountability and responsibility for completing a job.
3. Customer Reviews and/or Complaints - Does the company have a better business bureau listing? Do they have a review listed on some of the better known review listing services like yelp, yellowpages or Google and Yahoo local? People love to do business with people that have been recommended to them by friends and family and they also would much sooner trust the word of a third party if they feel it was a third party positive review that gave the recommendation. These recommendations are considered unbiased, which is a vote towards authentication in the eyes of many.
4. Web Presence - When you do a search for the company or individual does any information come up? If not that is usually a bad sign. In some cases and in some cultures this is not that big of a deal as there are still a lot of ethnic workers that rely on word of mouth business from within their warm networks. Their challenge is to remain on the minds of those that refer business to them, but for the majority of Americans we want transparency. We want to have information at our finger tips about a company or an individual and the internet allows for that type of transparency.
Now you have some basic advice to work with to go out and hire someone with confidence. I f you follow this basic but effective advice chances are you'll hire someone that really knows their stuff, is an ethical person to do business with and will solve your repair problems with little reason to worry about their workmanship.

The holiday season is meant to bring out the best in us all—sharing meals, hosting guests, giving gifts. These same aspects of the season can also add stress, particularly when adjusting to life as a newly single parent. The first holiday season on your own may entice you to bury yourself under a blanket with a plate of cookies straight through the first of the year. Resist the urge to hibernate and take advantage of the dating opportunities abound during the festive social season, create some new traditions, and start a few New Years' resolutions early.
1. The Gift of Matchmaking
Instead of swapping the usual assortment of books, gift certificates and baked goods with friends, propose a different kind of present exchange this year. Ask friends to arrange you a date with another single friend or search online for profiles to find your potential match. Friends who know you well can have surprisingly accurate insight to your compatible matches and can introduce you to some new and interesting people, taking away the stress of seeking out dates on your own. A date, and potential new partner, is more useful than another fruit basket any time of year.
2. Profile Makeover 101
Here's a New Years' resolution to improve your image that doesn't involve gym memberships or crash diets: revamp your online profile with a new set of photos. Visit www.DatingHeadshots.com and treat yourself to a full portfolio of profile photos. Dating Headshots' professional photographers will bring our your best looks, helping you make the strong first impression necessary in online dating. Your 2010 calendar will be booked with dates before the clock strikes midnight.
3. The True Spirit of the Season
Keep the stresses of dating and the holidays in check and volunteer —charities often rely heavily upon volunteers and donations during the holiday season. Take the lead in organizing a kid and parent holiday-themed fundraiser through your child's school, sports team or parent group. A social event—such as a dance-a-thon or gift wrapping races—will pull double duty in helping raise money for a good cause—with a side effect of easy and fun mingling with other single moms and dads.
4. Stress-Free Hosting
Take the stress out of holiday hosting and expand your social network by planning a different holiday theme party. Reach out to a diverse group of friends beyond your usual circle, asking them each to bring a dish, a drink, and—most importantly--a single friend to share. The pot-luck theme will create a relaxed atmosphere for everyone, leaving you focus on chatting with your new friends rather than replenishing the cheese tray. Suggest guests come dressed as characters from their favorite holiday movie, guaranteed to spark festive and flirty conversations.
5. Silver Lining of the Office Party
Holiday parties with your boss and co-workers can be a low point of the season: making appropriate chit-chat while carefully monitoring your alcohol intake makes for a less than festive occasion. Branch away from your cubicle-mates and mingle with unfamiliar faces, turning a night of forced socializing into a room full of potential off-the-clock dates.
The holidays only come around once a year: trade in the usual stress and dread for the abundance of social activities and opportunities for creativity. Creating new holiday traditions will usher in countless chances to revive yourself and your dating life, in time for the New Year.

Tips to Finding the Right Dating Service

First, all dating services were not created equal! Some matchmaking services have intense screening processes, others have great members, or simply different target audiences. For instance, Lavalife says they targets younger, "more hip", audiences, while Yahoo Personals has an almost balanced ratio of women and men. Generally, you can definitely find people of all walks of life in nearly every internet dating service. By recent estimates, nearly one in four online americans are using an internet dating service. That means it's not just for the tech-savvy anymore. Even now, specialty sites such as Friend Finder have a section for seniors, christians, hispanics, and asians, while other sites offer LDS dating, Jewish dating, and more. For the main dating services, carefully consider what your target audience your date would fit into, by age, culture, religion, or even hobby.
Next, there is features. Some matchmaking services focus on simplicity like Date.com, while other dating sites like Yahoo Personals offer video introductions you can put on your profile to help break the ice. Many dating services offer chat rooms, while Yahoo also has a distinct advantage in that it already has a world famous Yahoo Messenger chat system, which they have smartly integrated into their dating service to allow (if you choose) your potential dates to message you on Yahoo Messenger. Others, such as Date even offer an optional horoscope based matching service aside from their regular dating services.
Another thing to consider is security. Many matchmaking services offer screening services for criminals, such as True.com, which also offers screening for married persons. Remember dating is a risk both online and offline, and being on the internet does have an advantage. All you have to do to stop talking to someone is simply click a button. You can ban creeps with the click of a button. Try that in real life! However, still be careful not to give out your trust easily. If you ever do decide to call them, use a calling card or some other service that masks your number. If you feel like meeting them, do it in a very public place and bring a friend or two. Not only is that good for your safety, but you can get an idea of what your friends think of your date.
Lastly, not that you can put a price on love, but you can definitely put one on dating services. The five best dating services are competitively priced, with Match charging for certain premium services and LavaLife running on a credit system, that may require "recharging", but for the only occasional online dater may last many months. Perfect Match was bumped out of the top five simply because the price is dramatically higher, though PerfectMatch does offer quite possibly the best compatibility matching system available.
Also as a tip, once you pick a matchmaking service, remember to log in atleast once a week. Most dating services rank their users by the last time they logged in. Basically, a person who logged in yesterday will rank higher than someone who logged in a month ago. This because the dating services assume the people not logging in have already found someone. So basically if you haven't logged on in a month, you will be at the end of the list. If you log in more often, you will get many more responses.
So with all that in mind, go on and get out there! Many services such as PerfectMatch and True offer free profiles, and most other services are hardly the price of another dinner date, with another incompatible person. So go out and find your "perfect match" today.
